What will the security protocols be for LTAS 2024? 

As we continue organizing in a post-Roe world, Reproductive Justice leaders, organizers, and organizations from across the country will come together at SisterSong’s national Let’s Talk About Sex! conference in Washington, D.C. We are in a critical and pivotal moment as a country and as a movement. This gathering has never been more critical. 

Our conference will be a space for community to gather to organize and strategize, draw strength from one another, and experience healing and joy. To that end, we are investing in security for attendees' safety with a well-vetted security team familiar with the RJ framework. We are also adding metal detectors and wands for additional protection. We are building the security of our movement; details will be shared with attendees as they become available. 

We understand that visible security personnel, metal detectors, and possible armed security may be triggering, uncomfortable, and new to some of us. However, we also know that abortion providers and activists across the country are dealing with consistent violence and threats of violence from white supremacists, misogynists, and anti-abortion groups. We take our role as a convener of BIPOC organizers & leaders, Queer & Trans folks, and communities targeted and violated seriously. SisterSong leadership is committed to balancing the need for autonomy and respect while adding new levels of security in these uncertain times.

 What safety measures are being implemented due to COVID-19?

Sister Song is committed to doing everything possible to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 at this event. To keep our community as safe as possible, we require all attendees to show photo proof of a negative Rapid COVID-19 test upon arrival (taken within 48 hours of arrival). To complete check-in at registration, you must show a photo of your negative Rapid COVID-19 test. Additionally, attendees will be required to test daily with rapid COVID-19 tests provided by SisterSong free of charge. Entry will only be allowed for attendees who have provided proof of a negative Rapid test before arrival.

If you have COVID-19 or its symptoms, please stay home. Please do not attend SisterSong’s Let’s Talk About Sex Conference if you have recently been in contact with a person sick from COVID-19 or are feeling sick or having symptoms such as Fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, body aches, sore throat, or loss of taste and/or smell.

If you find out you have COVID-19 or symptoms after arriving at SisterSong’s Let’s Talk About Sex Conference or during on-site self-testing, please quarantine to your room/place of lodging for the entirety of the conference except to get medical care.

Due to COVID-19 being extremely contagious and spreading quickly during person-to-person contact, participants in SisterSong’s Let’s Talk About Sex Conference are encouraged to practice hand hygiene, social distancing, and wear face coverings to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19. SisterSong cannot guarantee that its participants, volunteers, partners, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19.

(b) all past, present and future affiliates, successors, assigns, employees, volunteers, vendors, partners, directors, and officers, will not be responsible for any personal injury (including death), property damage, or other loss suffered as a result of your participation in, attendance at, and/or observation of the Activity.  BY ATTENDING AND/OR PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTIVITY, YOU ARE DEEMED TO HAVE GIVEN A FULL RELEASE OF LIABILITY TO THE RELEASED PARTIES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
